The KJV and unsaved non-English-speaking tribes...
I have been asked repeatedly why the Lord in His infinite unbridled wisdom chose to make the 1611 edition of the King James version of the Holy Bible the one true official Bible and the final authority in all matters of faith and doctrine for the entire planet when there are several million people around the world who do not speak English and I have answered that question on several occasions but never as a journal entry which it looks like I will have to do now as I am tired of answering that question over and over for people who probably do not even care about the answer but just want to annoy me with the question. Amen.

The Lord has throughout the ages seen fit to deliver His Message to the sinners of the world through one group of chosen people and through one Messenger and in one language. Amen. The notion that God must do this for each and every nation and tribe and clan that pops up is to view God as an errand boy rather that the King of kings.

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and delivered to the Jews through various chosen Messengers such as Moses and Abraham and Isaiah and the New Testament was written in Koine Greek and given first to the Jews and then later after they rejected it and crucified Jesus it was given to the Gentiles (Acts 11:1-18) and then once the English speaking nations had conquered most of the pagan nations and tribes and clans and the English language had reached a state of perfection the Lord saw fit to give us the 1611 edition of the King James translation of both the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible and when you stop and think about it His decision makes a lot of sense since He has one language for the Old Testament and one for the New Testament and now has one language for the entire Bible in one volume! Amen!

But if you need further instruction regarding the superiority of the 1611 KJV I would like to invite you to visit the following web sites:

www.staggs.pair.com/kjbp

www.biblelife.org/word.htm

www.av1611.org/biblecom.html

www.biblebelievers.com/Grady/Final_Authority.html

www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0031/0031_01.asp

In these last days before the return of Christ the KJV has come increasingly under attack by those who like the part of the Gospel which allows them to avoid HELL but not the part that preaches repentance from sin and unrighteousness and it is of course no surprise to me that all those who bash the King James Version of the Holy Bible also like to advocate such sins of the flesh as masturbation and homosexuality as the purpose of the modern so-called translations is to dilute the Lord's message. Amen.

If you truly do not see where the Lord decrees that sex with one's own gender or at one's own hands is wrong and are not merely being smart-alecky I would invite you to simply dip a copy of the 1611 King James Bible in a vat of yellow ink and then read the highlighted parts for edification in that matter as all of this is expounded upon in great detail throughout the Scriptures. Amen.

Then after you have read the KJV and turned from your lifetime of sin and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (as if! which means I will spare you the feigned drama of holding my breath in anticipation of your life-shattering conversion) your next step would be to rid your closet of your pornography and your pro-abortion propaganda and your feminist Wiccan literature as well as of course your soap opera periodicals but I would recommend you do not throw away your new age Bible per-versions such as the NIV and the NRS and that awful so-called "Living" Bible as the pages will be very useful in cleaning up after your homosexual masturbation orgies once you have given up your deviant lifestyle and embraced 1611 KJV Christianity. Amen!

I can't regard any Bible as the be-all and end-all of religious documentation.

In the case of the New Testament, for instance, you're reading the words of someone who lived two-thousand years ago, recorded secondhand by people who weren't there in the first place, then translated first to Greek and THEN to English. I think there's a slight chance that some of the message might have gotten fudged a bit over time. Come to think of it, there's so much potential for absolute breadown there that Nietzsche's probably having a fit right now.

And that doesn't even touch the baffling amount of breakdown potentially suffered by the Old Testament, authored a good damn long time prior to the New Testament!

People who regard the Bible as the final authority on anything amuse me.

the argument a 'true believer' would probably use is that if god really wanted the word to translate properly, he would just 'make it so.' or as in (mormonism founder) joseph smith's case, send some angels to show you where the golden tablets are buried, and a cheat sheet to translate them with.

the beauty is that faith requires no proof. proof is actually a hindrance to faith. the christians don't need to prove miracles. an omnipotent god can do anything. it's the ultimate trump card.

If you're attempting to convert people, don't you think it would be better to have at least a more positive outlook instead of assuming that everyone will disagree? Or do you just know that those who read this aren't narrowminded enough to want to convert right from the get go. I know if I were trying to make people believe something, I would be a little more optomistic instead of getting my jollies off by telling people they're going to hell and I'm not.

English is far from being a perfect language. Not only that, there are zero...count them, zero.....major religions that can trace their roots back to an English speaking nation, predominantly because all of them originating prior to anyone speaking English.

The language is not the message. The message is not the language. If you are looking for reasons to exclude peoples through racism and bias, then you are missing the point.

Swaggart Jr., your journal is the most disturbing thing I've ever read. I live in a very religious community, yet I've never witnessed your fanatic intolerance. I could give you several reasons for why I hope your entire set of beliefs is a big joke, but, well, I guess you (seeing as how you're in good with the big guy) would probably condemn me to hell. Still, I hope you take the time to examine other views and realize that nothing is as simple as it appears.

Also, I haven't had too much use for the Bible in my daily life, seeing as how I am one of those disgusting pro-choice feminist masturbators, but I always liked this little tidbit: Judge not, lest ye be judged. I think it's pertinent here...

i'm still a little confused though... wasn't the bible, or at least the original books of it, written in Hebrew? therefore, as in any language, some words do not translate exactly, leaving much of it up to the interpretation of the translator... isn't it more accurate to say that the most accurate, or as you like to put it, the true version of the bible would be one written in hebrew? just a thought...

actually yes it was...and as I understand it...(my oldest brother was studing Hebrew in college very intensivly...and took the language) each word has an almost infanite meaning...It is a language that is almost impossible to translate completly true to what it was saying...simply because each word means so many differant things...

How is the KingJames version the be-all end-all?
cos if i remember correctly, the KingJames series of the bible is Anglican ....
and thats a protestant branch of christianity, that had different views of the way things really were... so that would be an interperetation and not the original truth?

One last thought. Stop taking things out of context. The support you find in the bible for your racist, homophobic, pro-life, misygonistic, narrowminded bullshit is for the most part all taken out of context. You begin having the idea of what it is you want to read and then twist things around to mean what you want it to mean. Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass, wack off, clear your little head (no pun intended?), grow up, and have a positive attitude instead of putting everyone else down so you can feel better about yourself. People like you only like to bring others down when you should try to lift people up. Life is hard enough without everyone telling you that you're shit.

Young lady or young man or whatever you are I have been sitting here for over an hour reading your posts in my journal over and over and trying to figure out why anyone would think it is acceptable to go to another person's journal and insult that person repeatedly while telling him what is and is not acceptable to print in his own journal and would you like to know the conclusion to which I finally arrived? Amen?

I finally concluded that there is absolutely nothing acceptable about what you are doing and if you think I am over-reacting I would like to invite you to imagine what you would think if I were to go to your journal and tell you what is and is not acceptable to post in your own journal and then advise you to "pull your head out of your ass" and I truly believe young lady or young man or whatever you are that you would think I had crossed the wrong line which is in fact what you have done here tonight. Amen.

I have in the history of my LiveJournal which also happens to be God's LiveJournal banned only one user from replying to my entries and that was for posting gif animations of a defecation in progress but even that disturbed young anarchist did not try to tell me what I could write in my own journal so congratulations Miss Potty Mouth as you have just initiated yourself into one very exclusive little club.

Amen and good riddance.

One true book????? What the hell did you smoke today before writting??? And is it legal?? Last time I checked there are over 500 translations of the Bible (and if they aren't true someone should tell those poor old gidions before they do more meaningless work.....)........Plus how does one account for the books and parts edited out in the past did God just say "OOps looks like i made a boo-boo and I'll have to remove these mistakes...."?? I tell you that I do admire your ability to cling to your faith and I comend you on doing so but I draw the line at attacking others and preaching from your seat.........So you found the meaning of your life (This is where you insert an 'Amen') good for you just don't press that on others...........It is vile to say to someone they are going to Hell..........Jesus never came out and said thus so maybe you should try to imulate the one who you love........Me I'm a Fatalist......God wants to be belived in and I knwo He is there.....Everything happens for a reason and that is that.........Knock it if you want to but I tell you this much Fatalism has never started a war......Christianity has....many times over (so much for that 'Should not kill' part ehh??)........Some notable names that used the Bible to back their works.....Hitler.......The KKK.........Korish (I can't spell his name but you my remember WACO).......Satan...........Xavier (remember the Spainish Inquistion??)............many murderers......and several other IDIOTS.........They all knew their Bible facts and twisted the words of a living document (the Bible) to suit their sick and twisted goals........The Bible goes through transations for many different reasons....God does not Perfect it over time it was perfect to began with......when He commanded 'Love thy nieghbor as thy self' Man then takes that pharse and twists it around his finger so many times that it becomes unrecognizable to all that see it.........You tell me Why God choose those He did to talk to and I'll show you twelve people to each one locked in a mental institution for saying God talks to them............the difference?? I think the Bible is full of Wit and wisdom and many provorbs for everyday life but I wouldn't put all my money in there being only one right translation (and if I did it would not be by the English......remember these are the poeple who gave us such notable people as Henry VIII....another Christian who twisted the words and changed a few things in order to fit his life)...so let me just end by saying you are way off base and hit you with a few quotes:

"The effect of the consolations of religion may be compared to that of a narcotic" - Sigmund Freud (aren't narcotics a sin??)

"Whatever the religous neurosis has appeared on the earth so far, we find it connected with three dangerous prescriptions as to regimen: solitude, fasting, and sexual abstinence." - Nietzsche (two comments on this one...sounds like fun is out and thank God you must abstane for it leaves hope you will never breed....)

"As long as there are fools and rascals there will be religions." - Voltaire

"[You] have just enough religion to make [You] hate, but not enough to make us love one another." - Jonathan Swift

"{The Bible} is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind..." -Thomas Paine

"When the missionaries first came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They said 'Let us pray.' We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land." -Bishop Desmond Tutu

And one from the book itself:

"Let him who is with out sin cast the first stone..."

Please think before you next write for though God loves all I'm sure He has a good laugh at the foolish - me

Think about it. What if he had born in a country and never learned English? (I know that's a stretch for Germany, but you know what I mean.)
Not only would we probably have never heard from him, but really, I'll bet the KJV Bible in THAT language would be the one true.

For one, I'm not out to offend you or any one else, I'm not trying to tell you that you're wrong, I'm not trying to say that I'm right, I just thought that since you've posted your thoughts, that I might as well post mine. For two, I just want you to know that I highly respect your religion because so many people follow it and because I have seen what an enormous role religion has played in our lives these past millions of years. And for three, I'm not a very educated person who's read the Bible from cover to cover, nor have I attended church every Sunday, nor have I read each and every book related to relgion, my thoughts have come from ME, so just don't think that I'm trying to preach to you or convert you because I think I'm God or anything.

My question: If God created the Heavens and the Earth, then who and what and how were all of the other planets created?
My thought: I think that if there is a God, that there is one God, who has created everything, including what we humans do not yet know of. I think that if God "put humans on this Earth to take care of it" (or something) then why would he not put them, or creatures that can survive in other climates, on the rest of the planets? Science has pretty much proved evoloution. But there are some things that are unexplainable. So maybe God didn't play as big as a part as what everyone wants to think he did. I highly doubt that he pointed a finger and, POOF, there was life. But I do think that maybe he gave the earth the power, the organization, the strength that it needed to get to where it is now, where we humans are now destroying the earth instead of taking care of it. I think that religion has lost a lot of it's dedicated believer-inners. How could a man who claims to be a christian know nothing of his "duties" that christians have? Why do Christians fully intend on converting the rest of the world? Why can't people in general just leave other people and their religions be? How can a person lying on their deathbed accept Jesus after living their life in sin and then be accepted into heaven, just like that? Life is SO MUCH MORE complicated than just reading a book that answers all of your questions. I think that man created god, in a sense, to answer his questions about the how and why of things. Maybe we're just not supposed to know.

Whew! That was a mouthful. I would really appreciate it if you would reply to me, even if yah don't have an answer.. please...

Might I suggest that if you were to list "Smashing Pumpkins" in your interests list instead of "Smashing Pumplins" it would probably light up like a jack-o'-lantern instead of sitting there unlinked as if you were the only LJ user who has ever heard of them. Amen and you're welcome.

Better yet why don't I list "Smashing Pumplins" on my interests list so that all your LJ friends will think you're smooth for being the only other fan of the only secular group on Amenlover's interests list. Never let it be said that I don't have a sense of humor. Amen.

Anyway regarding the tome you left in my journal I must say that I am impressed with your ability to concentrate so much energy on spiritual questions but I only hope you take a break at some point to ask Jesus into your heart to be your personal Lord and Savior because if you forget to do that then you will most assuredly find yourself in HELL someday where you will have all the time you need to ponder these matters but where you will also find it is much too hot to concentrate. Amen.

Now I could've sworn that the 1611 edition of the KJV bible was demanded by none other than *dragnet tune* King James of England himself. I vaugely remember my college professor, ( you know, the one with a double doctorate in theology) stating that he demanded this version so that he could start the Anglican church of England, a similarity of the Protestant Church.

Not to disappoint you or to argue in favour of the wonderfully blind pseudo-Christian who owns this journal, but Henry VIII began the Anglican religion (Episcopalian in the US) a good 50 years or more before James I of England ordered the scholars to get together and create a definitive version of the Holy Bible from as many original Hebrew and Greek texts as they could get their grubby Brit hands on. Therefore, the translation to English did not go through the Latin of the Roman Catholic Church. But the point is that Henry started the Anglican church, his three children took the throne, then James stepped up at the end of the 1500s. The end.
