What are you saving in your attic's sin treasure trunk?
Part of the Christian walk is doing battle not on the physical level but in what is known as "spiritual warfare" and I of course am no exception to that rule. I am often accused of thinking I am perfect but I would assert here that I am by no stretch perfect but merely forgiven. Amen.

Satan's best strategy for disarming the believer and sending him down the slippery sin-chute into everlasting HELL prepared for himself and his fallen angels is to tempt us not with new sins but with past ones which the Word of God compares to a dog returning to ingest his own expectorated vomit (Proverbs 26:11). Amen.

Such past ungodly distractions can blindside us the way they did to me this afternoon as I was in my attic looking for my spare Thompson Chain Reference to loan to Sister Sara for a Vacation Bible Time series she's preparing on the Great Tribulation.

I came across an old trunk filled with the sinful remnants of my rebellious teenage years which included but were not limited to beat poetry and books by subversive authors such as Fitzgerald and Orwell as well as cassettes of National Public Radio broadcasts and videotapes of Simpsons Halloween specials and of course all my Princess Leia Jabba-harem metal-bikini action figures.

It was difficult to burn these once treasured items this afternoon but easier than burning forever in the sizzling lava pit of eternal damnation and took of course much less time. Amen.

I Peter 5:8-10:
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."

Those of you who are seeking God will be constantly assaulted by the devil with the temptation to return to the vomit of your own past sins and as such the above passage of Scripture should be memorized or at least carried with you on a 3 by 5 recipe card. Amen.

Which temptations in your own life are poised to strike you in your weaker moments? It is important for you to think carefully about which sins are still hidden in your own proverbial "trunk in the attic" and equally important to take them to out the burn barrel as quickly as possible. Amen.

slipping down the sin chute sounds kinda nice!

now amenlover, I have A question. What is so wrong with autoerotic asphyxiation? Is it the masturbatory factor? What about erotic asphyxiation between a loving man and wife in the act of conception? That cant be so bad!

PS: St Ives exfoiliating creme does wonders for the complexion.

By the way, you've many questions [including one from my own dark person] and controversies in the comment section of your last journal entry that require that celestial attention. Eh. Just a hint, but I think faith will drop if you don't keep the HELLhounds at peace with answers.

Woof, woof ... grah. Poor Leia ...

I apologize Miss Tiny Font but lately my time as been occupied almost as much with adding names to my friends list which is of course God's friends list as it has been reading replies and so my focus over the next day or two will be to try to catch up. Amen.

I'm sure you would agree with me that doing the Lord's work is a full-time job if you were in fact doing the Lord's work instead of wallowing in your comic books and junk food and Hanson CD collection but since you are in fact wallowing in that unbridled state of depravity I shall take the time to explain it to you:

It is a full-time job. Amen.

Why don't you go all out and become Amish? My goodness, you're setting yourself up for trouble by even being on the internet. God, I'm sure, wants people to be happy, and as long as you aren't doing anything criminal or perverse (perverse w/o extent) than you should be okay in his book (not a referance to the Bible). You can't continue to be so hateful. I'm sure God wouldn't mind if you perused the religion section of your library, getting your facts straight, so that you can learn: by being so negative, you will never 'persuade' people to put down that comic book and rush into your church as you so wish. You might actually grasp the concept of acceptance, and come to a realization that not everyone is going to become -- whatever it is exactly your rendition of Christianity happens to be, and that as much as you stand by your religion how others stand by theirs. You will also find that contrary to how strong their beliefs are, I doubt they'd judge you or treat you as though you weren't supposed to be on this planet (not until they saw your page or you opened your mouth atleast). Consider the possibilities. Become a well-rounded person, not someone who's only read one book their entire life and dedicated themselves to it.

If you find you can't reply to my comments due to the fact that you aren't on his friends list, come on over to my journal -- I'll be posting my replies there also!

No! No burning stuff! Satan giggles when you pollute! You can recycle nearly all of those items - re-use the cassettes to make recordings of The Jesus Family Quartet or whatever your band of the moment is and hand them out to truckers and bikers! Make your l'il Leias into holy Mary (any of the Marys) action figures for your young parishoners.

Pulp the Fitzgerald, though. He's boring as fuck.

Hey amenlover, this was the first good post I think I've ever seen you write. That is, until you go to the point of listing the "sin remnants"

beat poetry and books by subversive authors such as Fitzgerald and Orwell as well as cassettes of National Public Radio broadcasts and videotapes of Simpsons Halloween specials and of course all my Princess Leia Jabba-harem metal-bikini action figures

Perhaps these items caused you to sin or made it easier for you to sin, but I do not think any of them, in and of themselves, are sinful. Don't make your readers believe they are going to Hell just because they like to watch the Halloween episodes of the Simpsons, or Star Wars... or listen to NPR.

If forgiveness of sins is between me and god, and it's a sin to act as god and judge others, than why does a mere mortal have authority to tell me I'm going to hell because i get a chuckle out of the simpsons?

Won't be any burning of my Kane and Rock action figures in favor of a lousy G.I. Job, unless of course he has kung fu grip.

That is a very good question and one that has caused me no small amount of vexation but Pastor Gundry was able to provide for me the Romans 9:13-24 passage which states that God created some of us for glory and the rest for destruction and that it is He alone who decides who shall receive mercy and that mere humans have no right to question His plan any more than a lump of clay has a right to question the potter. Amen.

I realize of course that this seems clearly unfair on its surface but one must remember that the Bible is the direct Word of God and that what He says goes. Amen.

I fear I am not an expert in answering such questions. But, since gone unanswered, I will attempt to address it to the best of my ability.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
I assure you the reason for your prayer going unanswered is not do to a lack of time on God's part. The reason may be within the prayer itself.

When we pray to God, it seems we are not particularly concerned whether or not our prayer is acceptable to Him. On the other hand, we demand to see the results. We must therefore ask ourselves, what is the image of God that motivates our prayer: an instrument to be used? or the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ?

We must remember God knows what we need long before we do. But we must also have faith in him, to be able to know that he also knows what is best for us. A possibility may be that in giving you such an answer, it would conflict with your own best interests, and this is why it has gone unanswered.

"Do not be troubled if you do not immediately recieve from God what you ask him; for he desires to do something even greater for you, while you cling to him in prayer." (Evagrius Ponticus, De oratione 34)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
I know I did not directly answer the question, but since I know not the thoughts of God, I can not fully answer it. I can only make assumptions. Nonetheless, I hope that helps.

OK amenlover eat this....
how could the Simpson and star wars be evil when GOD gave Spielberg and Matt Groening (Simpson creater CANT SPELL) the talent to make such movies and tv shows.... how could it be evil when those things have made people laugh and enjoy themselves... well that would make bill gates evil as well... the computer has porno and many other things that are not GOD like... according to you!
I don't see how something like the Simpson and star wars can be the slightest evil.
another thing.... god gives you your body... the least you can do is take care of it... keeping it out of shape and capable of having a heart attack at any moment is not giving god thanks for your body.... I know I say thank you to god by working out and eating right... there is no reason not to. I don't think you get to much human contact your hermit... why don't you go out sometime... sunlight does a body good.

A Question on Visions/Dreams
[info]amykittycat
2001-06-07 01:11 pm UTC (link)
Sorry to clutter up the box like this, but this is the only place I know how to contact many people.

In the last few months, I've had three, explicit dreams of the Apoclypse.

In one dream, I dreamt of Satan in man-form taking over the world. People had 666 on their foreheads and I was one of the few without. I was frantic to find help, and God spoke to me in the dream, saying it was up to me. Sadly, I woke up after that.
The next dream was the Battle of the Apoclypse, in which I do believe the Four Horsemen rode out and warred with the world. Once again, I awoke before the dream finished.
My third dream was one of Heaven and Hell. A wise, ancient creature (I know not what) told a group of people that those who live in riches shall be cast to Hell, and those who live in poverty will arise to Heaven.

Each dream was very realistic. I don't know what they're supposed to be. Am I just having strange dreams? Am I reading too much of your journal?
Is God speaking to me?
Or am I just tripping?

Re: A Question on Visions/Dreams

There are actually alot of reasons that be behind those dreams. Some people claim to have had celestial deliverances of information within their dreams before, though those scientists that actually study dreams also say that dreaming about such things can mean that you are under a very stressful time in your life, or something in causing you a bit of trouble, or something will happen in your near future. Yeah, heh, I'm one of those people that define their dreams. I recommend you look deeper into it, and see if you can put a meaning to each detail in your dream.

'Course, there is the chance you might be reading this journal to much. -snickers- My friend watched many movies of horror that she wasn't afraid of, and she dreamed of very frightening things for a week. Your subconscious mind is a strange thing. It will believe anything it is told, so this journal and his constant reminders of hell and such might have ticked into that second, deeper mind of yours.

Wooh. Good luck!!
( and yes, to all and one, I am being dead serious, thank you very much )

Yes I have heard of that organization and I cannot erase from my mind the rather alarming image of homosexual and bisexual and transgendered Romanists praying to the so called mother of God rather than God Himself and eating their little cookie Christs every week and lighting candles in order to bribe God into shortening their stay in Purgatory and all I can say is that if those disturbing images fail to warm a person's heart then he must not be Catholic.
